01 Apr 2 May performances of DRUMS IN THE NIGHT and Tour de Yorkshire

The Tour de Yorkshire is passing through York on Sat 2 May.
York will be busy!
Please allow plenty of time to get to Friargate Theatre for the Saturday 2 May performances of DRUMS IN THE NIGHT – in particular for the 2pm matinee.
We hope the information below will help you with parking and travel arrangements. Many thanks for sticking with us – we look forward to seeing you at our production of DRUMS IN THE NIGHT.
Parking arrangements and Park and Ride services on the day of the Tour de Yorkshire (2 May).
2pm matinee performance. The road closures will still be in effect at this point but there are a number of public transport and parking options.
Park and Ride
Grimston Bar/ Designer Outlet Park and Ride – will come in and terminate at the Barbican bus hub, half mile walk to the theatre (ten minute walk to the theatre )
Rawcliffe, Poppleton and Askham Bar Park and Ride –  will come into the city centre and terminate at the train station bus hub, (fifteen minute walk)
Parking
Parking will be available at St. George’s Field car park (short walk down the river to the theatre). It can be accessed from Fulford Road/ Fishergate direction only.
An alternative car park is situated at Foss Bank (again, a ten-fifteen minute walk) which is accessible via Monkgate.
Private car parking is also available at Kent Street (behind the Barbican), on Toft Green (access from Leeman Road direction) and at the train station (again, access via Leeman Road).
Castle, Nunnery Lane, Piccadilly and Esplanade car parks will be closed on the day of the race.
It will be easily possible to cross the route on foot or by bicycle on the day of the race.
We anticipate the roads being reopened by 5pm and the public transport network will return to normal shortly after that so, you should have an easier passage out of the city. Everything will be back to normal in time for the evening performance, although we would recommend allowing for extra journey time.
There is a journey planning tool on the iTravel York website (http://www.itravelyork.info/planner/) and further enquiries at this email address (tour@york.gov.uk).
